Terms of Use — Vusch
Last updated: 23 June 2026
1. Who we are
Vusch is an iOS app by:
Roger Nitzsche · Sole proprietorship · General Guisan-Strasse 119 · 4054 Basel · Switzerland
Email:
When these terms say "we", Roger Nitzsche as sole proprietorship is meant. "You" or "the user" — that's you, using the app on your iPhone.
2. What this is about
Vusch is a personal library app: you track books, add notes, quotes and ratings, let Apple Intelligence find patterns, share cards. The app runs locally on your iPhone and synchronises, if you wish, via your private iCloud account.
3. Free tier and "Vusch Complete"
The app is free in the App Store. The free tier offers list view, basic statistics and the Quote of the Day; there is a limit of 20 books.
"Vusch Complete" — a one-time In-App Purchase — unlocks unlimited books, all AI functions (placement, patterns, recommendations, library chat), iCloud sync, voice dictation, grid view, all statistics spreads and share cards.
Purchase happens through Apple's App Store. Apple's standard refund policy applies: refund requests via Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
4. Right of withdrawal (digital content)
Under Swiss law and EU consumer protection, a 14-day right of withdrawal generally applies. For digital content unlocked immediately on purchase, the right of withdrawal expires when use begins. Apple handles refunds more generously at its discretion — use the Apple channel mentioned above.
5. Family Sharing
"Vusch Complete" is Family-Sharing-enabled. If you activate it in iOS, up to five additional family members can use the premium functions. One purchase per family.
6. What you may and may not do
You may: use the app on all your iCloud-linked devices, export your data, freely manage your library.
You may not:
- Reverse-engineer the app or modify the binary
- Extract API keys embedded in the app and use them yourself
- Perform automated mass access to the book lookup services through the app
7. Third-party content
Book metadata and covers come from:
- Open Library
- Deutsche Nationalbibliothek (DNB)
- Apple Books / iTunes Search
- Google Books (if API key configured)
We strive for accuracy but do not guarantee it. Covers are the property of the respective publishers and rights holders, delivered through official API endpoints.
Classic quotes in the Library masthead come from works of public-domain authors — all deceased for more than 70 years.
8. Affiliate links (Swiss bookshops)
In the recommendations area you'll find links to three Swiss bookshops: Orell Füssli, Ex Libris, Bider & Tanner. Tapping a bookshop opens the search in the browser.
If an affiliate programme is active for the respective bookshop, we may receive a small commission when you complete a purchase via that link. The price for you stays the same; you don't pay more.
Currently NO affiliate programme is active — all links lead without tracking parameters directly to the bookshop. As soon as we activate a programme, we will visibly mark the links as "advertising" (UCA-compliant).
Such commission funds the continued development of Vusch and does not change our editorial recommendations — the selection remains with Apple Intelligence, not with us.
9. Liability
Vusch is a personal library app for private use, not a tool for commercial, medical or critical purposes.
We accept no liability for data loss due to defective hardware, disabled iCloud sync, typing errors or accidental deletion. Keep your important notes safe — the in-app exports (JSON backup under Settings) are a good way.
We accept no liability for temporary outages of third-party services (Open Library, DNB, Google Books, Apple Books, Orell Füssli). If you can't load book data, the app is not "broken" — an external service simply isn't responding.
Liability for slight negligence is excluded to the extent permitted by law. For intentional or grossly negligent conduct, statutory liability applies.
10. Apple Intelligence — beta nature
Apple Intelligence is a young, on-device AI system. Answers can be inaccurate, incomplete or occasionally wrong. Vusch deliberately presents AI-generated content (placements, recommendations, chat responses) as suggestions, not absolute truth — we recommend treating them as inspiration, not as research results.
11. Availability
Vusch is developed with the promise of careful updates, but can be discontinued at any time. In case of discontinuation, you retain access to your local data (JSON export remains functional as long as iOS loads the app).
12. Applicable law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Swiss law.
Place of jurisdiction for disputes is Basel, to the extent legally permissible. Consumers may also sue at their place of residence.
13. Changes
If we change these terms, we add the new date at the top. Material changes are announced in the app (in-app banner or onboarding step).
